Wheel Suckers Cycling

Ride Etiquette

Riding bikes with friends is best enjoyed when everyone has some on best practices. Reference the following before the ride begins to ensure you know what to expect.

  • Safety first, helmet and lights required.
  • Call out obstacles with hand signals and echo messages all the way back.
  • Ride a safe distance from the person in front of you.
  • Stop at red lights.
  • Be prepared for the unexpected.
  • Know the route. (links below)

Depending on how many people show up, expect 2-3 individual groups. A slower conversational "no-drop" ride for people new to riding in groups ("C group"), a mid paced ride that always regroups ("B group"), and a faster, more challenging group ("A group"). Paces and distances are as follows:

    A Group:

    • Drop ride
    • The group may or may not wait for mechanical issues depending on route and group composition.
    • Average pace 20mph+.

    B Group:

    • The group will wait for mechanical/flats.
    • Average pace 17-19mph.

    C Group:

    • No Drop.
    • Average pace less than 17mph.
    • If not enough people are present for a C group, you may be asked to join the B group.
    • If you are unsure please reach out on Facebook
